Today's Food and General Stuff...

I updated yesterday's post (Chorizo Taco Recipe) with a photo. After work I picked up Bethany and away we went in search of THE homecoming dress. 4 stores later, we found it! I won't tell you how much it cost, because you simply won't believe me. It was a STEAL. A single digit steal. Yeah. And it's gorgeous!! Of course, she looks stunning in it! Then we were off to find shoes and all the stuff that goes with a homecoming dress, lol. We got caught in a downpour on the way home, and were so very ready for a hot dinner when we walked in. Leftover Chorizo Tacos! I remembered to take a picture this time (though my plate was kinda messy, lol).

This morning I began the day with coffee, then cardio - 30 minutes on the treadmill. I kept my heart-rate at a moderate 135, incline of 8 and speed of 3.2. I am itching to get back on the stairmaster and do my HIIT, but my knee is still hurting. Oy.  My plan is to attend Tab's muscle class tonight - 15 minutes of abs, then 45 minutes of butt-kicking muscle circuit work. It's a serious workout! When she tells you to pickup your light weights, it's not because it'll be easy, lol, it means your muscles are about to burn! When 3 lb dumbbells feel like 80 lbs by the time your done, you know it's a tough workout! Brutal! I love every second of it! :-)  Anyway, I say my plan is to attend, because one of my other kids has a Dr appt at 3:40 and I have no idea how long we'll be sitting there. I'm really, really hoping it'll be a quick in and out, then I can be off to class. After class (if all goes as planned), I'll clean up then head over to the bowling alley to root for the guys. I'll have to stop off at home to refill the cooler first, though.

Which brings me to today's clean eating cooler...
Breakfast: 1/2 cup dry oatmeal with 1 scoop (20g protein) protein powder, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 Tbsp NuttZo (then cooked with water) and a small grapefruit.
Snack 1: 2 chicken mini loaves (muffins, they're smaller than the loaves I usually make) and an apple
Lunch: 4 oz grilled chicken breast, 1.5 cup steamed cauliflower, half cup brown rice
Snack 2: protein pudding and half cup of blackberries.
Extra snack just in case... raw almonds and an apple. I'll also toss a NoGi bar and a couple FiberFul (Trader Joe) bars in my purse in case we get hungry while we wait at our appt.

I really wish my phone camera would capture the vibrancy of my cauliflower - it's so pretty!

  2. Yes indeed! The Shea club and the Platinum club, both. Monday night is Total Body Conditioning, 5:30pm at the Platinum Club (Ice Den on Bell Rd), Wednesday 5:30pm is the Muscle & Abs class at Platinum, and Saturday at 9:30am is Total Body Conditioning at the Shea club :-) You going to join us? :-D

  3. I love that cauliflower! I've never seen it multicolor. does it taste different than the white kind?

  4. I came across the different varieties a couple years ago at our Farmer's Market, then Whole Foods started carrying it, then my regular grocery store! Woot! There are purple, green, orange and white varieties (that I've seen). The orange and purple ones are a bit sweeter than white, the green tasted the same as white. So fun! :-D
